A year after my first blog post, I’m in love with this process. Starting today, I’ll be adding moon posts to my regular roster. The group which I practice with, CAYA Coven, celebrates October’s full moon as the Poison Moon.
Some Questions to Consider:
Where are you festering? What needs healing? What do you need to take in to purge something undesirable? Where will a little bit of something unpleasant strengthen your whole system?
Spell to Attract Purging
1) You are responsible for your own actions. Please weigh any magic you do against your own sense of ethics.
2) If you are unfamiliar with any terms used, there’s a good online glossary here: http://www.angelfire.com/realm2/starlight0/glossary.html
3) Magic works differently for everyone. If you want to alter this working to suit you, go for it! If you reproduce it somewhere, please credit me. Thanks!
If you do not have a very clear sense that there is a circumstance in your life that is poisoning you- that is draining your vitality, making you sick, even killing you slowly- this is not the spell for you. This spell is the magickal equivalent of getting your stomach pumped. Proceed with caution.
Using tarot, runes, scrying, journaling, or whatever means seem best to you, identify several possible people, actions, or items that would help dislodge what is sickening you from your life.
Collect or create representations of the options you’ve come up with, plus one to represent Mystery. Place these items around a red candle. Invoke whatever spirits or deities you wish. Hekate is particularly appropriate for this working. Lighting the candle, chant:
“Through thick and thorn I make my way
Accepting loss as the price I pay
Change me so I shake away
What sickens me: to you I pray!”
Staring into the flame, concentrate on your need to get rid of the poisonous circumstance in your life and your willingness to take whatever comes to change it.
Either let the candle burn down or burn it over the next 3 or 13 nights.
Yeshe Rabbit shared her modification of Jethro Kloss’s herbal liniment that she makes.
This works for a wide variety of external issues, such as cuts, gashes, bites, cold sores, athlete’s foot, and even works as a sore muscle rub. But it is definitely poisonous to take internally.
1 pint rubbing alcohol or vodka
1/2 oz cayenne pepper
1/2 oz myrrh, pulverized or powdered
1 oz St John’s wort
1 oz calendula
Keep the mixture in a dark, cool place for a month, shaking it regularly to infuse. Strain the mixture well through cloth, and then use as needed. It does sting, but it really works well. You might also want to add a piece of kyanite to the mixture in the bottle as it brews and after you have strained it.
