1. Stop waiting for someone to give you permission. You do not need to pay someone thousands of dollars to go on a safari. You do not need the blessings of all your friends and family. You do not need to apply for a sabbatical from work, or even a week’s vacation time. No one is going to tell you it is OK to live your life. The only permission you need is your own. So give it to yourself.
2. Stop preparing, and go. You can have an adventure without instructional youtube videos or a few how-to wiki articles. Adventures do not require special shoes, dedicated equipment, or weeks of training. You do not need a fundraiser for your adventure. Of course, sometimes all of these are helpful but when you notice yourself doing more preparing than adventuring, it’s time to just go!
3. Seize the moment. Adventures are all around us, just waiting to happen. Next time a co-worker invites you to come to tango night, say yes! Next time you’re walking down the street and hear enticing music coming from somewhere, take a detour. The next time you end up at a friend’s house an hour early, take a walk around their neighborhood instead of sitting in your car checking Tumblr on your phone. You never know what you’ll discover.
