Where are you resisting a necessary purging? What toxins are you taking in? What allows you to release?
Please be mindful of your physical and mental health. If you are diabetic, if you have a traumatic history with food, or if your health would otherwise be negatively impacted by fasting, give this one a miss. Check out the alternatives at the end instead.
That said, I have used this simple fast, in conjunction with contemplative silence, many times as a way to open myself up before powerful magick.
Set your intentions. What are you releasing? Will you do other work in support of this intention, such as journaling, burning, soaking, or meditation? How will you know everything is going correctly?
Avoid excess heat- no saunas or using a hot tub. Also, plan what you will eat to break your fast. Particularly if this is your first time fasting and you’re not sure how your body will react, being near another person and a bathroom is wise.
From the time you get up until sunset, or some other magical time that you have selected, don’t eat or drink anything except water. Feel the weight of everything you’ve been carrying lift away. Feel the waters you drink cleanse you. Blessed be!
